Here's Chris Mendham with a personal best Sea Salmon*
Chris was fishing from a boat off Cocoa Beech, Goa, India - when he
hooked into this monster fish.
The skipper of the boat told Chris the Sea Salmon is a very rare fish
in those waters, this being the first one caught in five years!
It's certainly
the biggest fish Chris has ever caught.
The fish ended up in the 'Captains Cabin' where Terri - Chris's wife
says it was delicious!

Editors Note:
I have to admit I didn't know this fish as a 'Salmon' - so I sent
the pic off to Andrew Kennedy, our specialist fish expert, to see
if he could shed any light on this unusual catch.
Here's his reply:
I had a good idea
what it was as soon as I saw the photo. The word "Threadfin"
came to mind. I've done a little research and I've found that in India,
a species of threadfin, Eleutheronema tetradactylum, is known commonly
as "Indian Salmon" or "Burnett's Salmon". There
is also a very similar species called Leptomelanosoma indicum, or
"Indian Threadfin".
It's hard to tell which of the two species it is, but the top and
bottom of it is - that the proper name would be a Threadfin, though
the locals would probably call it a Salmon. It isn't, however, a salmonoid
at all.
It's quite a specimen though!
The maximum length stated for each species is 200cm and 142cm respectively.
So, whichever one it is, it's getting on towards maximum size.
Regards,
Andrew Kennedy
