Keen angler Adrian Hancock hooked a giant fish during a trip to northern Spain.
Fishing on the Segra river in the Pyrenees, he landed a monster catfish weighing 185lb.
‘'This is certainly the biggest freshwater fish I’ve caught. It put up a hard fight and it took 35 to 40 minutes to reel it in,’' said Adrian (40), an oil rig worker who lives at Dunston in Chesterfield.
During his week-long trip he also caught numerous other fish weighing around 100lb, as well as a 40lb 8oz carp.
Now the intrepid angler is setting his sights further afield.
‘'My next trip will be on the River Nile during the winter where I hope to catch a Nile perch – they weigh up to 200lbs. I’d also like to beat the 200lb barrier for a catfish,’' he said.
