Waterlog by Medlar Press


Whilst visiting the Newark Flyfishing Show I met up with the guys from Medlar Press... and I thought I'd gone to heaven!
I absolutely adore books - and if they are angling books even better! Talk about a kid in a candy shop!

They produce paperbacks, cloth-backed books and of course the ultimate quality - leather-bound books. Now I've got to say some of their books aren't cheap - in fact some of the leather-bound books are eye-wateringly expensive - but they are still excellent value for money. Where else can you buy an angling book bound in salmon skin? Come to that, where can you buy a leather-bound angling book? Medlar Press of course!

Chatting to the guys I discovered they had a passion - all the right words were used - Gill, Garamond, Caslon, deluxe margins, design, typography - they were just highly skilled compositors using 21st century technology - and what an excellent mix!

By now you've probably guessed I was impressed to say the least. I've worked in the print world for 30+ years and these are some of the best books I've seen. We're talking real quality merchandise here, something to be proud of - and to pass onto the next generation.

I was given a copy of Waterlog, a quarterly magazine/book - it's difficult to decide which, but it's a beautifully produced publication whatever you decide to call it. There are great stories, superb photography and illustrations and lots of readers' contributions, definitely a quality-time read that warrants a glass of something warming, a comfy chair and no interruptions.
