GROUNDBAIT ON THE CHEAP

TOP TIP: GROUNDBAIT ON THE CHEAP Have you ever fancied giving the fish on your local water a groundbait barrage but the cost has put you off?

It is possible for top anglers to unload six or more bags of continental groundbait, and leam, in five minutes at the start of a match, which IS cost prohibitive if you haven't got the luxury of a bait sponsorship.

This need not stop you, however.

The answer lies in MOLEHILLS!

For a perfect groundbait binder on river or lake, get out there and collect some of the blackest molehill soil you can find.

Put it through a caster riddle first and then dampen gradually with an atomiser at home.

If you want a mix of say four kilos for a 10-15 jaffa starting salvo, try this recipe: 2k molehill, 1k Sensas (a brand of your choice to suit river or lake), .5k bread crumb, .5k rice flour or maize flour (you might also add a liquid or powder flavouring if it boosts confidence).

Only Add the 2k of molehill soil once you have carefully blended and wetted the other ingredients.

And there you have it, a mix that will take you anywhere at a budget price, and the only live feed often required is a few pinkies and/or casters, or some chopped worm. Note: this is a lean mix but still contains .5 kilo of bread.

On the worst of days the fish might refuse this, so try substituting the brown crumb with bran when things look desperate.ends
