Cork Floaters

Here's an easy way to create an 'alternative' floater bait for carp fishing.

All you need is a wine cork, an empty film canister and some of your favourite flavour.

Simply cut the wine cork into 4 equal slices - then using a sharp knife and sandpaper, shape into round balls to imitate Pedigree Chum Mixer.

Cut a little grove in one side to accommodate a hook. Into the film canister with them and soak with your favourite flavour.

I make up different batches using Scopex, Marmite or Oxo cubes and a little water.

Over a period of time the flavours will soak right into the cork. Keep adding more flavour if it all dries up.

When carp are feeding on the surface - simply catapult out some Mixer freebies - superglue your flavoured cork ball onto a strong hook - a size 12 or 14 for a single 'mixer' should be big enough.

With the aid of a controller or bubble float, cast over the freebies and gently draw your hook bait amongst them. Hopefully the carp will wolf it down!

Right a 12lb mirror taken off the top with a cork floater.

It really does work - just give it a try! Let me know how you get on.
