E Z Feeda

'The new EZ Feeda is a single handed feeder than can be used for most loose feed and groundbait.
It is very easy to use and has a very accurate range of up to 14 metres for loose feed and 35 metres for groundbait.

Mmm... I never take anything for granted, so off I went to my local fishery to try the EZ Feeda for myself (I'm getting cynical in my old age) and to see if the advertising blurb rang true.

As it comes out of the bag the first impression is maybe it's another gadget to catch fishermen, there's nowt wrong with my old catapults which this device is designed to replace - told you I was cynical didn't I? Of course no-one reads the instructions... clip on the biggest cup, in with some maggots and away you go!

After a couple of 'firings' I realised that maybe this has a place in the anglers' tackle box.

Firstly you can fire the Feeda with one hand, try doing that with a catapult.

It's easy to load and fire while you pin your pole down with your other arm - sounds strange but every pole angler will know what I mean! What's more, you can sight the Feeda down the length of your pole - it's almost like lining up a rifle - accurate or what!

Secondly it's very accurate! There's a 'distance stop' rubber ring on the main stem that regulates how far down you pull the Feeda head - and it works very well indeed. It's quite satisfying to fire out your bait the same distance every time and the 'spread' is nice and tight too.
OK - if you are really good with a catapult maybe you can do the same, but the Feeda is accurate every time and there's no sore knuckles from mis-fires!

I was firing maggots around my float with delightful accuracy - every time! No more baiting the swim next door or the famous 360 degree catapult misfire - where you bait the back of your brolly at the same time.

I can honestly say I approve of the Feeda, simple, easy to load, single-handed operation and accurate - what more do you want?

I gave the Feeda to a couple of anglers next to me to try out (always good to get other people's opinions) and they were very impressed.

John Parkin had brought his grandson Daniel for a maggot bash and John admitted he had trouble holding a catapult - so this was ideal for him to use with a better 'handle' to grip.

John was fishing with a rod and line and so used the Feeda two handed while his rod was in the rests. His first shot put maggots way past his swim until he got the hang of the 'distance stop' and then there was no stopping him!

'Where can I get one of these from - it's ideal for me' was his only question!

The Feeda comes with three changeable cups and you can get stronger elastic if needed. There's also a handy clip-on holder that will secure your Feeda to the edge of a bait tray. There are instructions included - which I recommend you read as I was using the Feeda upside-down on my first attempts!

There is still a place in my tackle box for my old catapults but I have to admit I haven't used them since I acquired the EZ Feeda.

'Excellent piece of kit and ideal for the pole fisher' - just about sums it up.
