Sea News
13th Feb 2008
I had a session off Brid harbour wall last Tuesday, due mainly to a
south easterly sea making the beaches unfishable. It turned out to be
a red letter day with my two companions and myself taking over 50 quality
whiting (all returned alive) to 2 1/2 lb.
Despite the lack of cod, the beaches have been throwing up specimens
to 5lb from Hornsea and surrounding areas.
The Brid Open is held on the first weekend of March but all the usual
anglers seem to be giving it a miss this year due the increased cost
of the accommodation and rising bait prices (despite there being £30,000
up in prize money).
The boat season will soon be upon us and the prospects are looking good
with plenty of cod still showing, despite the efforts of the netters
and trawlers.
