Fishing Reports For Caistor Fisheries
8th May 2008

General

Excellent warm and sunny weather has increased water temperatures and the fish have started feeding with vengance. All ponds catching well, many 'PB's' being broken over the Bank Holiday weekend. Carp looking as if they could be getting ready to spawn in pond B. Water levels normal and colour very good alround.

Pond A
Carp to 8lb from pegs 4 and 7 on floating biscuit. Some good silver fish being taken on the pole from pegs 1 + 2 although small Perch can be a bit of a nuisance. The odd Tench to 4lb being taken on feedered sweetcorn from peg 4.

Pond B
Carp seem to have gone into frenzy mode, taking nearly every type of bait offered. Floating crust or pellet accounting for over 40 doubles for a group of anglers staying with us from Newcastle. Monday proved a great day for Daniel Kelly of Caistor who spotted a shoal of large Carp cruising around the aerator pump in the corner of peg 4 so he dropped his pellet waggler in amongst them and in 2 minutes hooked into a fine 13lb 7oz Common. Danny had plenty of other smaller Carp ranging from 6lb to 11b on the same tacticts from peg 3. Lee Gray tempeted another fine specimen weighing 14lb 9oz on pole fished pineapple pellet, feeding red and white maggot from peg 8. Crucians to 3lb on pole fished white maggot while float fished red worm accounted for some fine Tench upto 4lb from peg 12.

Pond C
Pegs 1-4 producing good nets of Chub and Ide on pole fished caster and maggot, fished tight to the island. Pegs 10 and 11 giving nets of Bream to 30lb on pole fished caster over chopped worm at about 7m. Odd Barbel upto 3lb being caught on small chunks of luncheon meat either on the feeder or pole pegs 8 and 14. Please remember in warm conditions to get the fish back into the water or your net as soon as possible to avoid distress to the fish.

Pond D
The change in water temperature has really worked wonders for results. Alan Spedding from Wakefield had 64lb on Friday fishing maggot at 11m from peg 9. The bag was made up of Bream and Chub to 3lb, Carp and Tench to 2lb with plenty of smaller silver fish. Bill Latto from Tingley fishing peg 10 had over 40lb of mixed fish on pole fished caster.
