Notts News

Worksop AA are running their annual under 16s Friday night match on the Sandhills lake on 11th August, with the draw taking place at the activity centre at 5pm and fishing 6pm–8pm.
It is open to all junior book holders and tickets are priced £1, available at all of the three tackle shops in town.
By way of a change last Sunday we headed off to the Worksop Association tidal stretch of the Trent at Normanton, where we were pleased to see a good number of pleasure and specimen anglers enjoying the access to one of the most prolific barble and bream stretches in the country.
However, directly upstream of this length the stretch controlled by the Barbel society was totally deserted as far as the eye could see without a single angler to be seen, we are so lucky that we have fishing rights available either by day ticket or club membership so get out there and enjoy it.
The pegs are all accessible and are producing specimen barbel and bream and the odd carp and plenty of silver, and it won’t cost much to join an exclusive club with restricted membership.
Another Worksop water that is producing the goods at the moment is Woodsetts quarry pond where good nets of specimen sized nets of tench and bream are falling to the traditional carp hook bait of a small hair-rigged boilie over a bed of pellet or hemp.

There are three matches to catch up on from the Worksop disabled anglers this week. firstly, they were at the Sherwood forest farm park on 18th July where they found the going a little difficult on the Sherwood lake, but this did not deter Pete Scott from putting a winning net together of 14lb 10oz off peg 4 just ahead of Stuart Brumpton on peg 21 who weighed 12lb 1oz and Brian smith in third place with a net of 10lb 13oz on peg 2.

On Sunday Carlton WMC were the visitors on Sandmartin, where Russ Brown claimed first place using pole and worm off peg 5 weighing 46lb 5oz and in the runner up position from peg 20 was Brian Marsh who employed caster and pellet on the pole for 37lb 9oz.
