‘First day a huge success as the sun shines down on us’

Well the glorious sixteenth certainly lived up to its name with pleasant conditions and more than a few of you joining us on the bank for the traditional ‘first day’.
With the continuing warm weather and the end of spawning season the next few months promises some hectic sport.
After having our opening day on the Tigers length of the canal we opted for a Saturday afternoon session on the second day on the tidal Trent at Normanton where four of us caught the river in perfect shape.
We managed nine good bream between us – 5lb to 7lb – numerous bits and plenty of broken hook lengths when the barbel decided to play, so check your tide tables and get out there with some ‘proper tackle’ and send the photos to us !
We would like to remind you that 1st July sees the Rod Clarke memorial match which is to be fished on the John Shaws and Lockkeeper to Wood end lengths of the Chesterfield canal ,in aid of Macmillan Nurses. Tickets are available from Ken Wards sports priced at £10 all in.
