Anglers bag cash for
Worksop AA
WORKSOP Young Anglers had a bagging session with a difference in Retford
last Saturday.
This time they were not dealing with fish but carrier bags at the Asda
store in order to raise cash to offset the considerable expenses that
Worksop AA incur each year to maintain the top flight squads and offer
training to up and coming young anglers.
Fishing can be as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it - but
top level match fishing comes at a price and newcomers to the sport
have to be coached and supported, which is why the youngsters took to
the aisles.
The day also offered the opportunity to recruit new members to the sections
and raise the profile of angling in a really positive way with a great
deal of interest being shown by some of the shoppers and their children.
On the day over 20 youngsters and adult helpers took part, raising an
impressive £600.
Thanks must go to Garry and Doreen Butt, Glenn Foulds and parents and
helpers who worked tirelessly to ensure that this event was a success.
Also thanks to Asda and in particularly events co-ordinator Jo Thorpe
and all the staff and customers for their support and good humour.
