Worksop rods
at British Beach Open
OVER £20,000 in prize money is up for grabs
this weekend as the British Beach Open takes place between Bridlington
and Spurn Head.
We know that there are quite a number of anglers from this area heading
up for the weekend (unfortunately Roger isn’t one of them due
to a bad back) and with north-easterly winds blowing for the early part
of this week, sport promises to be good.
This is the biggest event in Europe and anglers from the Worksop area
have always been well represented – so we would like to wish you
all the best of luck.
As mentioned in last week’s column Worksop cadets held a practice
session on the high school length of the Chesterfield Canal.
After a hard frost the previous night the going was always going to
be tough, but this did not deter all the youngsters from turning in
a determined effort.
Young Joel Potts weighed in a creditable 1lb 2oz from peg 10 and starlet
Devon Whitworth netted 10oz off peg 2 in the cadet section.
A small selection of the juniors turned up with Tommy Davenport weighing
3lb 3oz off peg 14 and Robert Stocks landed an impressive chub of 2lb
13oz on a squat rig with number 4 elastic on next peg 15.
A big thank you must go to Garry and Doreen for all their sterling efforts
and the parents for their time.
