Night
at the races set to help juniors
We are pleased to announce that you have an opportunity to take part
in the sport of kings and become a racehorse owner for a night.
The Worksop and District Anglers’ Association will be holding
a race night to raise funds for the junior section at The Innings, Prospect,
on Friday 24th March.
Doors will open at 7pm with the first race under starters orders at
7.40pm.
Tickets for the evening are exceptionally good value at only £5
(considerably cheaper than Doncaster and Ascot) with the opportunity
to fund not only the junior and cadet squads but other angling events
held throughout the year.
We can guarantee an entertaining night with a pie and pea supper included,
raffle prizes and a lucky peg draw.
To book your ticket and further details contact Garry on 01909 770546.
Well done to those of you who spotted last week’s slip up on John
Westwood’s catch of bream, barbel and his 100th chub over the
5lb mark which carried the headline ‘Westwood gets amongst the
carp’.
No prizes but well done to all you eagle eyed readers of the column
who brought this to our attention, repeatedly!

Sherwood forest
round-up
Last Wednesday, 18 fished the Holmedale Lake in the Fun League Open
and in top spot was Dave Madin (Mossella Ultimate Anglers) who fished
at peg 27 for a 22lb 0oz catch.
In the first match on the lake since before Christmas, Dave continues
to dominate on the Holmedale Lake.
Expectations were high, but the carp were slow to respond as Dave fished
a small ground bait feeder and corn cast to the old lily bed.
And he had a steady flow of carp throughout the match.
In second place was Jason Thomas (Peg One Angling Centre) who fished
at peg 49 and caught 16lb 11oz.
He used a pole and maggot and had a bite almost every put in as he ended
with a fine net of roach and rudd weighing 8oz.
Jim Strachan (Sherwood Forest Fishery) came in third as he fished from
peg 25 and landed 10lb 15oz.
