Congratulations to world champ

We would like to start this week by offering our congratulations to Matt Godfrey on winning the Individual Bassetlaw Junior Sports award.
Last year Matt won the under 16s individual and team World championships and had many successes with Worksop Juniors.
But this award recognises all the efforts put in by a lot of people in supporting junior angling and it is the first time to our knowledge that an angler has won this title.
Now for an opportunity for all budding young pretenders to Matt's crown, in conjunction with Diawa Hallcroft the Guardian is to run an inter-schools match at the Retford venue on Thursday 20th July.
We are inviting applications from any secondary school in the Guardian readership area for teams of eight anglers (team numbers in line with the schools nationals) who wish to compete in this prestigious event.
All pegging fees are covered by Stuart and Roger and thank you to Terry, Luke and Mick of Hallcroft for offering the pegs at a reduced rate as well as putting up £100 of prizes from their sponsors Diawa.
This again shows their commitment to promoting junior angling in the area. All the rules will follow the schools' national format with fisherie rules applying.
There will be a trophy for the winning side and any donations for prizes are gratefully received.
For details or to register contact 01909 480419 and we would urge a quick response as we are limited to a maximum of ten teams, so it will be on a first come first served basis.
