Update on club’s end-of-season

With many local angling clubs’ matches now drawing to a conclusion it is now the time of year when presentation evenings are being organised, with this in mind we would like to offer the opportunity of coverage for your events.
If any of you would like to email photos and details we would be delighted to feature these in upcoming editions of the column.
Likewise it is also the start of the predator fishing season, so any of you specimen anglers who record a decent catch, please send pictures and as much detail as you can and we will endeavour to do you justice.
A final reminder that Sunday’s Worksop Guardian/Gateford Angling Charity open match draw takes place at 9am at the café at Lodge Farm but can we ask participants to get there at least 15 minutes early to register.
Denise Payne would like to remind Piscatorial members the last match takes place on Sunday 28th October on the Chesterfield Canal at Clayworth, draw at 8.30am, names to secretary please ASAP on 01909 733886.

CLUB RESULTS
GREYHOUND AC held two matches on the Staythorpe section of the Newark Dyke with the first taking place on Sunday 7th October where there was a tie for the top position: 1st Charlie O’Sullivan 3lb 8oz peg 22 stick float; 1st Arthur Bird 3lb 8oz peg 30 waggler; 3rd Johhny Evans 3lb 6oz peg 26.
The second match took place the following Sunday when the weights were a little bit better: 1st Charlie O’Sullivan 7lb 7oz peg 16 stick float; 2nd Mick Burrows 5lb 15oz peg 14 stick float; 3rd Dave Robinson 5lb 7oz peg 25 waggler and feeder.
The club’s aggregate league was won by Mick Burrows with 40 points with O’Sullivan claiming the runners-up position with 48 points and Bird in third on 59.
Stanley Street Sports and Social AC fished the last match of their summer season on the bonsai lake at Lindholme on the outer pegs: 1st Ian Mellish 43lb 2oz pellet fished shallow for small carp; 2nd Mick Simpson 40lb 15oz on the short pole chopped worm and caster; 3rd Mick Pogson 38lb 12oz feeder and pole.
Junior section: 1st Ben Jackson 6lb 6oz; 2nd Ryan Bolton 3lb 6oz; 3rd Michael Fox 2lb 14oz.
The club’s presentation evening takes place on 13th November and the club secretary Brian Fox would like all trophies returned ASAP. He will be in the club Wednesday and Friday evenings.
Members of Whitwell AC fished their latest match at Hayfield Lakes: 1st Lol Smith 33lb 3oz peg 22 worm and pellet with a bomb feeder; 2nd Terry Bingham 28lb 2oz peg 19 pellet fished shallow at 14 metres; 3rd Luke Mclaughlin 20lb 13oz peg two ground bait feeder and corn.
Members of Worksop Angling Supplies Batchelors AC made the journey to Derbyshire where they fished the River Derwent at Borrowash on 7th October: 1st John Eves peg 26 16lb 7.5oz stick/maggot roach/barbel; 2nd Algie Wareham 16lb 0.5oz peg 19 feeder/worm bream; 3rd Alan Quick 13lb 9oz peg 30 stick/caster roach.
Anglers representing Dinnington Welfare AC held their latest match on the River Trent at Holme Marsh on pegs 100-120 on 7th October when local angling starlet Christine Allsop landed her first ever barbell: 1st Mick Donnely 19lb 2.5oz peg 102 barbell and bream feeder fished caster; 2nd Jimmy Allsop 16lb 14oz peg 101 chub on feeder fished worm or maggot; 3rd Christine Allsop 7lb 3oz peg 106 barbell on maggot feeder.
On Tuesday of last week Mick’s Marauders fished their second match on lily pond at Lodge Farm Fishery: 1st Stuart Brumpton 32lb 11oz peg 53 pellet waggler; 2nd Neil Richards 32lb peg 68 pole and pellet; 3rd Pete Scott 21lb 6oz peg 59 wag and mag.
Manton AC held two matches in August, the first on the Lindholme Complex: 1st Dave Wilson 65lb peg 39 feeder with red maggot; 2nd Garry Morris 44lb 4oz peg 36 feeder; 3rd Mel Morris 31lb 8oz peg 50 pole; 4th Neil Richards 31lb 3oz peg 46 pole; 5th Stuart Coupe 27lb 4oz peg 40 pole; 6th Steve Lockton 26lb peg 26 pole.
The second match was held three weeks earlier at Carvale: 1st Tommy Wilson 27lb 6oz peg 18 pole; 2nd Barry Hipkiss 21lb 5oz peg 26 pole; 3rd Cliff Jackson 17lb 11oz peg 23 pole; 4th David Wilson 16lb peg 19 feeder; 5th Mel Morris 13lb peg nine pole; 6th Garry Morris 12lb 7oz peg seven pole.

LAKESIDE ROUND-UP
THE best match weight at the Ranskill venue was Paul Donnoley’s mixed net of 69lb 9oz taken on pole fished luncheon meat on peg 17 in a club match on Sunday.
The maggot feeder is accounting for all silver fish nets of over 30lb with pole fished caster also scoring with mixed match weights pushing 50lb.
Pleasure anglers on the strip ponds are taking nets in excess of 120lb made up of carp, goldfish, tench and skimmers with Martin Harrison landing three doubles and an impressive tench of 7lb 10oz from the second strip employing pole fished sweetcorn and worm.
On the carp lake, specimen angler John Walker tempted nine lumps to 25lb 8oz from peg three using boilies with Brian Taylor banking a mirror of 25lb 10oz using boilies.
Over on the trout lake, Tommy Sanderson slipped his landing net under nine fish to a personal best rainbow of 15lb 8oz on green Fritz and intermediate line with fellow fly caster Mathew Harris tempting 16 fish to 6lb on black and red buzzers and a floating line.

RIVERSIDE ROUND-UP
FRIDAY’S open on the main lake: 1st John Siddons 21lb 2oz peg 38 mixed bag on pole fished maggot; 2nd Les Richmond 18lb 2oz peg 35 feeder cast to the island.
Saturday’s open match was fished on Sandmartins: 1st Mick Hall 33lb 1oz peg 20 pole fished pellet and sweetcorn; 2nd John Siddons 29lb 2oz peg 16 pole fished maggot.
Owner John Hunt informs us that pleasure anglers are taking fine mixed nets on both sandmartin and the main lake with Retford’s John Moore netting 80 carp on pole fished luncheon meat from peg 10.

LODGE FARM ROUND-UP
POLE fished paste has been the top method in matches on signal pond especially the middle pegs on either bank in match bags to 66lb.
Pole fished pellet or luncheon meat is proving effective on field pond with the fish being found at varying depths on different days. On lily and long island, pellet and caster fished shallow has accounted for match weights to 68lb 6oz with the venue’s better mirrors of up to 14lb showing.

DAIWA HALLCROFT ROUND-UP
PELLET fished on the long pole is the winning method on all ponds at the Retford venue taking carp nets to 64lb in matches on moat and bream and carp weights to 45lb on bridge with meat also fished on the long pole a favoured alternative.
Croft pool is responding to pole fished pellet or maggot with small stockies to 3lb and hair rigged corn or pellet on the bomb.

TOFT NEWTON ROUND-UP
THE Toft Newton Cup takes place on Sunday with £100 cash for the winner and many tackle prizes. It is a friendly day with all welcome. Draw is 9am and fishing 10am-5pm. Email jason@toftnewton.com to book or turn up on the day.

THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE
THE first cod of the beach season have fallen to Treeton rod Colin Roscoe who took two on a short session off Holpton.
Although they only weighed in at 2-3lb it is a promising start with the boat season all but over now.
