ALL the best to the juniors representing Worksop and District Angling Association in the NJAA nationals to be fished on the Grand Union Canal near Milton Keynes this Saturday.
Their bait has been kindly sponsored by Greg Forester of Worksop Angling Supplies and hopefully they will bring home a team medal.
Now that we have finally found some sunshine it’s ironic that we are already starting to think about the Autumn events that take place either locally or involve anglers from this neck of the woods.
Firstly on Saturday 22nd September the Keith Fretwell Memorial/Holme Church fundraiser is taking place on the Holme Marsh/Winthorpe sections of the River Trent.
Entry fee is £13 all in with the £3 pegging being donated to the worthy cause for further information contact 01909 480419 or email roachpole10@aol
On Sunday 21st October, Geoff Mawby of Gateford Angling and Bill at Lodge Farm are putting on a match for the Worksop Guardian charity of the year, the Bassetlaw breast care which will take place on the field pond. Entry fee is £15 of which the pegging fee is £6.
Bill will be donating to the charity and there will also be a raffle. This event is limited to 38 pegs and you can register by visiting Gateford Angling Supplies to purchase your ticket.
Staying on the coarse side, on Saturday 3rd November we are holding the annual Linda’s Lakeside fundraiser with the first £200 raised going to the children’s ward at Bassetlaw Hospital for their Christmas presents and party with the remainder of the proceeds helping to swell the coffers of the Worksop branch of the Salvation Army’s Christmas Community work fund. This provides food parcels and toys for needy families in the Bassetlaw area.
We think that you will agree that these are two outstanding local causes and we are looking for any raffle or auction donations as well as sponsorship from any individuals or businesses from the area who would like to become involved.
Finally the annual Guardian fishing column beach match is well into the planning stage and should be held at the beginning of November (final date to be confirmed subject to tides) which has been kindly sponsored again by Pickwicks bar and restaurant.

Also on the main lake, Adrian Dudley slipped his landing net under an all Ide bag weighing 46lb 3oz off peg 40 using pole fishing maggot.

LODGE FARM ROUND-UP
SHALLOW fished pellet or caster on the long pole is the top method on all four carp pools on the Scrooby Top venue, with match weights in excess of 80lb on lily pond and 60lb on the long island.
On signal, ide are also showing amongst the carp in nets to 53lb and on the top pond, Bill tells us that pleasure anglers are taking nets of skimmers and tench over 50lb which are falling to small nuggets of swimstim paste fished on the short pole.

DAIWA HALLCROFT ROUND-UP
THE moat pool is still producing match weights to almost 100lbs, with Tuesday afternoon’s open match producing all 15 entrants with more than 60lb each.
Corn and pellet on the deck is producing skimmer bream with the odd carp with pellet and meat fished up in the water on the long pole producing mainly carp with the margins throwing up lumps to double figures later in the day.
On bridge pool, the resident skimmers and bream are being tempted on the short pole with a pellet hookbait fished over a bed of the fisheries own feed pellet with corn an alternative hookbait.
Cat meat and paste fished later in the afternoon is always worth a try for the specimen carp on reed pool but beef up your tackle because these go in excess of 15lb.
On croft pool, any method or bait is responsible for taking small carp to 3lb with pellet or maggot always worth a few bites.

SHERWOOD FOREST FARM PARK
