CONGRATULATIONS go to ex-Worksop and DAA Junior Matt Godfrey for winning the Junior World Championship for the second time in his career. Well done, Matt.
We would also like to wish Mark Higginbotham and the rest of the Worksop squad the best of luck in the Division One nationals being held on the new Junction Canal near Doncaster this Saturday. Worksop have won this event twice previously in its previous format and hope they earn a good position fishing on a local water.
The association would also like us to pass on the information that the day tickets at Barlowe fisheries are currently being under-used but this complex is fishing extremely well on all four coarse ponds with NFAA coach and Worksop executive member Ken Stevenson enthusing about the mixed bags of roach, crucians, tench, bream and grass carp which go to an impressive 34lb being caught on mainly maggot and pellet.
The venue is customer-friendly being ideal for novice and expert alike and promotes junior anglers in particular.
Tickets are free to Worksop book holders and can be obtained by contacting Greg Forester at Worksop Angling Supplies on Retford Road by either calling in or registering by phone.
Additional news from the association is that the Division Two Nationals have been moved from the River Trent – due to recent floodings where bank repairs has proved difficult for a lot of the clubs – to the Fossdyke where there will be 300 anglers pegged and 200 on the Worksop stretches of the Chesterfield Canal at Hop Pole, Church Lane and Greys Bridge/Clayworth areas.
This event will take place on Saturday 1st September and is a great honour to local angling.

On the second strip pond, Paul Todd employed pole fished meat pellet or corn to put together a net of carp goldfish skimmers and rudd weighing over 200lb on a pleasure session which included 20 carp to 15lb 10oz.
On the carp lake, David Hartley landed a personal best common of 23lb 8oz in his ten fish haul off peg 3, with John Vardy landing eight specimens to 19lb 6oz off peg 5.
Over on the trout lake, Lee Hudson slipped his landing net under 14 fish to an impressive 7lb 10oz using black buzzers on a floating line with Worksop’s Carl Harris tempting 17 fish to 4lb on his segmented bloodworm and sinking line.

RIVERSIDE ROUND-UP
John informs us that his restocking policy has already started after the recent floods with 2,000 carp between 1lb–1½lb being introduced to the main lake and the strip pond.

DAIWA HALLCROFT ROUND-UP

An improvement in the weather has made a difference to pleasure anglers’ catches. Carp to double figures have been showing throughout the complex.
Pellet is producing nice weights of bream with plenty of sport for the all-ability angler.
Match weights have remained high, with small expander pellet being the most consistent method for plenty of bites, however, paste and catmeat are still producing the larger carp nets in certain areas.
Plenty of smaller fish to be taken on maggot and caster.
Croft Pool – Pleasure weights to 60lb on pellet and corn.
Moat Pool – Big weights of carp on paste or catmeat over pellet. Skimmers and bream to 4lb on meat and pellet.

TOFT NEWTON ROUND-UP
Weekly results week-ending 3rd August. One hundred and 20 rods caught 336 fish for a rod average of 2.8.
The venue fished very well at the beginning of the week and got a little more difficult towards the end of the week on bright, warm days.
Best times on bright days are the first few hours in morning and late evening, in true summer style.
Plenty of fish holding in the north-west corner and that is the place to head on the bank. Fishing well all through the day when cloudy with floating lines and damsels, diawl bachs and olive and ginger buzzers.
Quite a few fish to dries in the evenings using sedge patterns or emergers. Buzzers fished underneath an indicator also proving very successful.
Several catches of 10 plus fish to catch and release anglers with the best being Mr Evans and Mr Saville both catching 16. Best rainbow this week was 5lb 10oz to Mr. Sharpe from Nottingham.
Boats catching anchored off back of valve tower fishing near weed beds or anchoring 80 yards out off the west bank.

THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE
Glynn Williams, coach of the winning school in the Worksop Guardian WDAA match at Hallcroft, has asked us to pass on their thanks to Greg Forester of Worksop Angling Supplies for his support and bait sponsorship in the recent event.
