We start this week with a clarification with regard to the senior citizen’s match that we reported in last week’s column.
We stated that entry to the competition was completely free which is not strictly true as there is a £5 pools, but this will all be paid back in prize money.
However there are no pegging fees and a free meal of pie, chips and peas which will be served after the competition at approximately 5pm. We apologise if this has led to any misunderstanding.
Also, following on from last week the junior scene has been hectic with entries for the inter-schools match flooding in. To date we have received entries from all but two of the schools we approached with many wishing to enter two teams, this means on the day there should be more than 100 anglers competing.
We are also taking entries for the other two events we are running in conjunction with the Worksop DAA at the Riverside fishery at Scrooby on Saturday 16th June and the Lakeside complex at Ranskill on Sunday 15th July.
Both of these are completely free due to the generosity of the owners (John and Lynda respectively) and there will hopefully be NFA coaches on hand to offer advice and support.
Both of these are to be held on an afternoon (4pm onwards) after a weekend match, which hopefully means the fishing should be really productive.
If you are interested in either of these events please register on the above numbers or via our
email address, as entries are limited to the first 40.

We are pleased to be able to report that the Worksop Juniors under the leadership of coach Glen Foulds have won through to the final of the NJAA knockout cup to be fished at Maver Larford in Worcestershire on 2nd June.
In a tough group they managed to clinch the runners-up position behind Wakefield beating Barnsley and Leeds in the process.

The members of the Station Hotel of Shireoaks fished their first summer league match on the Kingfisher pond at Woodhouse Grange last Saturday where they found the fish hard to locate on what turned out to be a cold, wet and windy day which lowered the water temperature considerably.

LAKESIDE ROUND-UP
The Ranskill venue is still fishing well on the match lake with over 80lb of carp and silvers needed to win a Wickersley AC four-hour sprint last Saturday evening.
Brian Edwards used pole fished meat to record this win off peg eight.
On Sunday, Paddy Burke put 71lb 3oz of silver fish on the scales to win Park Hotel AC’s club match off peg 21 employing pole fished chopped worm and caster.
On the strip ponds the fish are still responding for the pleasure anglers with Worksop’s Adrian Turner bagging himself over 180lb of carp, roach and rudd. Adrian had 27 carp to 16lb 4oz taken on bomb fished meat from peg five on the first strip pond.
On the carp lake Mark West landed six fish in a 24-hour session on peg four – the best a common of 24lb 2oz closely followed by one of 23lb 10oz with brothers Rob and Paul Cheetham banking 16 fish from peg three which included an impressive ghostie 25lb 14oz.
Over on the trout lake, Colin Smithson landed 10 fish which included a personal best rainbow of 8lb 10oz on black buzzers and floating line.

RIVERSIDE ROUND-UP
The top match weight to fall at the Scrooby venue over the last week was Geoff Bennett’s 58lb 7oz of mainly carp taken on Bank Holiday Monday’s event on the main lake.
Geoff fished pole and pellet from peg 32, just squeezing out Les Richmond into second place with a mixed bag of 45lb 2oz taken down the margins or on the bomb cast to the central rope on peg 36.
The silver fish are still responding to caster fished on the short pole, with Norman Footit netting 41lb 5oz of these from peg 18 to frame, in last Friday’s veterans open match with luncheon meat fished on the pole also worth a look at.
The stockie carp in Sandmartins are responding to pole and pellet as well as bomb fished meat or corn with silver fish specialist Norman Footit having an all rudd and roach net of 38lb 9oz off peg 16 again taken on caster fished on the short pole.
John also tells us that the strip pond is also fishing well for pleasure anglers with his top tips being to cast a small bomb over to the far bank with hair rigged pellet, meat or corn with pole fished pellet down the track accounting for good nets of skimmers with some better carp falling to margin fished offerings

DAIWA HALLCROFT ROUND-UP
All lakes are fishing well for both match and pleasure anglers alike with good nets of carp on paste, catmeat and corn.
There are also quality bream being taken on pellet, meat and corn, with the Moat Pool responding well to paste on pole and catmeat on the bomb fished short.
Bridge Pool – nets to 80lb in open matches on paste and corn with some good bream and the odd tench being caught in the margins on meat and corn.
Croft Pool is producing nets of carp to 50lb responding best to loose feed pellet fishing either pellet or corn on the hook.
On the Reed Pool, pleasure anglers are taking carp to double figures on larger baits, such as luncheon meat, double corn or catmeat.
Please note there is a two-day festival to be held on Sunday 27th May and Monday 28th May with the entry being £75 which includes pools.
The draw is to be held at 9am in cafe with fishing from 10am to 3.30pm. Link and Golden Pegs with section points will decide the winner. Book in with Terry, Nick or Luke on 01777 710448.

LODGE FARM ROUND-UP
At the Scrooby top venue, the top pond is fishing well with worm and caster being the favourite bait combination at the moment adding some groundbait to attract the skimmers and corn.
If you have a feature peg for the resident tench which grow big with one angler weighing in two for over 10lb.
Long Island and Lily ponds are fishing well with match weights going to 81lbs with shallow pole fished pellet being the method of choice and also pole fished paste in the margins is accounting for some proper lumps.
On the two new ponds Field and Signal ponds worm, caster or pellet on the deck have each accounted for a win on club matches with a little and often feed pattern. But on all four lakes pleasure anglers are catching on any bait and method.

SHERWOOD FOREST FARM PARK
Holmedale Lake, Wednesday Fun League open, 24 fished –1st Gary Scott Wombwell Angling Centre 78lb 9oz peg 35; 2nd Tony Caley Mosborough Tackle 63lb 7oz, peg 17.
