SOME good news from the Worksop and District AA. Following their progressive
restocking policy, they have now managed to secure fishing privileges
at the Barlow Fisheries complex which is situated four miles north-west
of Chesterfield.
The fishery itself consists of four coarse ponds with a total of 72
pegs with the main species being carp, bream, skimmers, tench, rudd
and orffe.
There will be up to a maximum of 10 permits per day available from 1st
April through to 31st March 2008, and will be available to WDAA members
in possession of a current members book and national rod licence which
will entitle them to fish any of the four coarse lakes absolutely free
of charge. Normal tariffs apply to the trout lake.
The permits are available from Worksop Angling Supplies on Retford Road
(01909 482974) on a first-come-first-served basis and initially members
will be allowed to use the permits once a week with a diary being kept
to record who has fished to be able to review the situation to enable
spare permits to be utilised.
Please note that if a permit hasn’t been obtained then Barlow
Fishery will charge the full day rate and Greg of Worksop Angling Supplies
and the fishery bailiff may ask to see your rod licence.
Additional good news is that there are some strategically placed wheelchair-friendly
concrete pegs with guard rails and there are toilets and a snack bar
which serves breakfasts and snacks throughout the day.
Please note that all members who use this fishery must check and abide
by all fishery rules prior to fishing, so all in all it has never been
a better time to be a Worksop book holder.
