Fishing is year-round pursuit in local area
It is only a week ago that we were saying that at last spring was here–
but as we write the column this week the wind is howling in from the
north and the hail is beating against the window.
But we know that this will not deter many of you from the bankside!
Some dates for your diary in the summer months for the junior anglers
and some of the events that the Worksop Guardian Angling column is running
in conjunction with the junior committee of the Worksop and District
AA.
Firstly, the annual Inter-Schools match is to take place at Daiwa Hallcroft
Fisheries again on Wednesday 18th July with the same format as last
year, with teams of eight and all local secondary schools are invited
to enter a team.
Letters will be sent out to all schools in the near future, so if any
of you youngsters want your school to participate nag your relevant
teacher to contact us on our email address or either of the phone numbers
above.
We are also running two more fun days on two top commercial fisheries,
the first taking place on Saturday 16th June at the Riverside Fishery
at Scrooby for a four hour late afternoon session on the main lake.
The lake has been kindly donated free of charge by the owner John Hunt
, more details will be put in the column at a later date. The next event
will be held at the match lake at Lakeside fishery at Ranskill where
again the generosity of the fishery owner Lynda Hawke has to be applauded
for donating the lake free of charge for another late afternoon session.
All that is needed to qualify for either of these events is the ownership
of a current Worksop junior members book which are available from any
of the three Worksop tackle shops from the beginning of June.
On the senior front, the Worksop and District A.A. are holding the annual
delegates and bookholders match on Sunday 15th April on the recently
restocked Sandhill lake at a cost of £5 which will all be paid
back out in pools.
The draw will take place at the Snakattak café on Gateford road
at 8.30am with the fishing taking place between 10am and 3pm.For further
details and entry contact Derek Brown on 01909 486350 or Mick Pogson
on 01909 486893.
