NEWS has reached us that young Matt Godfrey, of Wales near Kiveton, has managed to retain his Unde
r 18s World Championship, to go with the the ones he won in 2005 and 2007.
Everyone at Worksop & DAA and sponsor Greg Forester, of Worksop Angling Supplies, wishes to congratulate him.
Well done, Matt!
We'd like to pass on information regarding the forthcoming Keith Fretwell Memorial/Holme Church charity fishing match at the Holmemarsh and Winthorpe sections of the lower River Trent.
Worksop & DAA are staging the event and will be donating the pegging fee to the worthy cause, with Ian Kettlewell of the Bull Dog barber shop generously contributing trophies for the top three anglers.
Last year's event had a fitting tribute to long time Trent angler Keith Fretwell, who unfortunately passed away last summer and was still fishing his beloved River right up until the last few weeks of his life. It was unanimously decided to hold the occasion for one of fishing's true characters.
It promises to be one of the Midlands' most prestigious matches with a quality field travelling from afar to compete on this recently re-pegged section of river.
Due to many anglers being committed to various club events over the weekend, the organisers have decided to hold the match on August Bank Holiday Monday (25th).
The cost of entry is £15 with the draw being held at Collingham Sports Club, Station Road, Collingham, at 8am.
The fishing will commence at 10.30am and will finish at 3.30pm.
To book you can phone Stuart on 01909 480419.
On a different note Kim and Micheal, of the Snak Attak café, are starting a book club with all the proceeds going to the Junior anglers. So in principle you can go and swap your old read for a fresh book in the club for a cost of just 10p.

Pole and pellet has been a consistent hit with the ample stocks of silvers in nets approaching 50lb, with poled meat a viable alternative for mixed bags.
On the Strip pond the action has been frantic for pleasure anglers, with Brian Holland slipping his landing net under a 150lb plus net of carp, tench, skimmers and goldfish, taken on pole fished sweet corn and meat off peg 7 on the second Strip pond.

On Saturday, Moat pool saw a matchwinner semi-final taking place when two local anglers, Keith Walters (coming second) and Ian Mellish claiming their positions in the final.
The most productive method on Moat pool is long poled meat or pellet fished shallow, while on Reed pool paste presented on the long pole is accounting for match weights in excess of 80lb.
SHERWOOD ROUND-UPON Holmedale lake, the pellet feeder with a meat or pellet hook bait has been the most consistent method in competions when cast tight to any features or islands.
The ever-productive long poled pellet and meat is still scoring as well as pole and paste.
On Sherwood lake poled meat or pellet down the margins for nets of quality bream and carp with the ground bait feeder with a corn hook bait are also worth a cast.
