E-Mail: roachpole10@aol.comLAST Saturday saw the Steve Atkinson Memorial Match in aid of the Notts/Lincs Air Ambulance Appeal at the Daiwa Hallcroft complex at Retford.
Seventy-seven participants spread across the Moat inner and outer and the Reed Pool, and Kev Creswell led the way with 56lb 7oz.
Gordon Gibson claimed the runners-up position with 42lb 5oz and Andy Cardell landed 38lb for third place.
But the main reason for holding this competition was to raise funds for the worthy cause and a grand total of £973 was raised. The coffers were boosted by a further £484 collected at Misterton Sports and Social Club, with the club donating a further £100 and £100 from Steven's mum Christine.
Event organisers Mark and Louise Upton wish to thank the team at Daiwa Hallcroft for their kind hospitality, Steve Spur at the tackle shop, Lenny Squires of R & R Tackle, Bawtry, and Geoff Mawby of Gateford Angling Supplies, Worksop, for their donations for the raffle.
West Woodside Fisheries is holding an autumn mini-series which runs for six consecutive Sundays from 2nd November to 7th December on a venue that we can both strongly recommend. We have often mentioned that the members of the Greyhound AC are an intrepid bunch who fish a variety of waters. This proved to be the case with their last three match results coming from the River Trent and the Newark Dyke.

COMMERCIAL ROUND-UPTHIS week we start our look at the commercial scene at the Daiwa Hallcroft complex where the expander pellet fished over a bed of the fishery's own pellets on the long pole is proving to be the most effective method on all pools.
Corn over pellet is a viable alternative and corn and caster down the edge is tempting some fish later on in the day.
Over at Sherwood Forest Farm Park, the Holmedale Lake has been responding to the ground bait feeder cast tight to any features, as well as the corn fished down the margins. Long pole fished pellet has been taking impressive nets of fish on Homedale, Sherwood and Maunside lakes for skimmers and carp, with the resident shoals of roach and ide showing a preference for the humble maggot.
At Lodge Farm the Likely Lads' regular Tuesday event was held on the Lily Pond where all the main frame used pole fished pellet. Results were: 1st Simon Short, peg 71, 24lb 6oz, 2nd Andy Hill, peg 66, 24lb, 3rd Keith Morris, peg 56, 21lb 2oz.
Thursday's Open was fished on Long Island. Results were: 1st Dave Lane, peg 101, 75lb 13oz, bomb and pellet, 2nd Steve Plant, peg 102, 61lb 5oz pole and pellet, 3rd Alan Goldspink, peg 90, 46lb 4oz, pole and meat.
Another reminder that the venue's Saturday Winter Open matches commence on 1st November with a 9am draw taking place at the café with a £12 entry fee. To regisiter call Bill on 07815 030694.
Over at Lakeside Fishery at Ranskill, Paul Ashley required 114lb 14oz of silvers taken on the maggot feeder from peg 12 to win last Wednesday's Open.
Pole and pellet has been taking skimmer nets nudging 40lb with pole fished maggot taking ide and chub nets to 53lb 8oz.
Pleasure anglers on the Strip Pond have been employing bomb fished meat to bag themselves mixed nets in excess of 100lb of carp, skimmers and tench from peg 4.
On the Carp Lake Steve Cockayne had four specimens topped by a common carp of 23lb 10oz from peg 4 on boilies.
Over on the Trout Lake, Worksop, fly caster Chris Watson tempted 17 fish to 8lb on his black buzzer with a floating line, with Garry Hurst slipping his landing net under 10 fish to 6lb 8oz on his segmented blood worm on sinking line.
