The Himalayan Outback (New Camp Mahseer)

The Himalayan Outback is pleased to introduce one of the first specialised Mahseer fixed camps in Northern India. This concept is based on the Himalayan Outback's theme of remote and productive sporting waters for Mahseer game fishing in the Himalayas. Our guides have spent several weeks guiding fishing and fly-fishing trips on this section of river and have had great results on both spinning and on the fly. In fact, this section of river came into the lime-light only after a series of successful fly-fishing trips.

Though-out the history of Mahseer fishing, there have been very few mentions of "Mahseer on the fly", something that the Himalayan Outback has had great success in. Fly-fishing for Mahseer is our head guide Misty Dhillon's specialised field. He is responsible for the invention of over fifteen Mahseer fly patterns and is known in the industry for his unique Mahseer game fishing techniques.

We also schedule a fly fishing course each season on this section of river. The course is hosted by Misty, the week long course consists of basics of casting single and double handed rods, fly-tying, knots, etc.

Camp is set up on a beautiful meadow overlooking the river. From the camp itself the guides can point out the monstrous fish that swim in this section of river.

The Himalayan Outback controls a two mile productive section of this river. Camp is a two hour trek from the road head and the guests are escorted by our seasoned guides. The luggage is handled by the porters.

Despite its remote location the camp caters to just about anything you could ask for in a remote location. The large Safari tents accommodate two guests comfortably and are outfitted with two cots, with fresh linen, chairs and a table. The cooks prepare a variety of Indian and continental cuisine including barbecues. Our cooks will be happy to accommodate your requests.

Each morning Begins with the cooks bringing out a hearty breakfast, to be followed by the day's fishing. Anglers return to camp for lunch and then set off again with their guides. Dinners are served around the Bonfire.

The journey to camp takes six (6) hours from New Delhi. The first three hours is by train on which you are served breakfast and the remaining three hours is by vehicle.

You may also request a DVD that was shot on this section of river.

We host a very limited number of anglers on this section of river and dates are taken up well in advance.
