Could it be a record?
Here's a picture of the 'huge' minnow
caught by Dave Eadie of Cornwall
When Dave caught this 'monster' - he wasn't sure exactly which species it was,
so he sent the photo to our fish expert Andrew Kennedy, who identified it as a
minnow and a big one at that!
Dave says: 'My first thoughts were it was a minnow, but I discarded the idea because
I thought minnows were more for flowing waters, rivers etc. Your expert tells
me that it may be of record proportions, I will have to take one of my grandchildren
to the spot and let him try to claim the record.'
The fish comes from a China Clay Works lake in central Cornwall.
We hope Dave manages to catch and weigh another 'record' minnow - and hopefully
will claim a new British Record.
There's quite a few 'mini' record fish out there... if your local water holds
them, try targeting the stickleback or bullhead - you never know, you could be
a record holder!
