Double DARE victory for Scott

Competitors from schools across Bassetlaw converged on Sandhill Lake, Worksop on Sunday to fish the annual DARE angling competition.
They were confronted with some very hot conditions, but, despite the weather, everyone taking part caught fish.
The event was won by Valley School pupil Scott Mellish with a weight of 5lb 14oz which included a bream of 2lb 15oz that was taken at peg 69 using maggot on the pole at seven to eight metres.
This fish was backed up with skimmers and gudgeon and ensured that Scott won the under 13s age group, the overall match, and the biggest fish trophy as well as the Alf Marshall Memorial Trophy for the second consecutive year.
Overall match runner up was late entrant and fellow Valley pupil Daniel Harper, who won the under 16s age group with 4lb 12.5oz and the biggest fish trophy in this age range with an eel of 2lb that was taken from peg 9.
Third overall with a creditable 4lb 3oz in the under 10s age group was Christian Caley at peg 25 from Misterton Primary School.
His catch comprised of mainly small fish, which included a skimmer bream of 6oz, was enough to win the biggest fish trophy in this age range.
The overall match results were as follows: Under 10s - Christian Caley (Misterton) 4lb 3oz, Callum Coleman (Gateford Park) 15oz.
Under 13s - Scott Mellish (Valley) 5lb 14oz peg 69, Jack Dryden (Clarborough) 3lb 12oz - including a tench of 2lb 9.5oz from peg 16.

At the presentations event organiser Glyn Williams expressed his sincere thanks to the following organisations for helping to make it once again another successful event: Bassetlaw Trophies, the DARE Committee, The Marshall Family (Elsie, Paul and Peter), Worksop and District AA and their bailiffs, Sandhill Lake Adventure Base, Ken Ward Sports, and all parents.
A special vote of thanks was extended to the stewards who did a magnificent job.
