Reece
takes first in school match
Pupils at Redlands
School battled it out in their silver jubilee angling competition on Sandhill
Lake earlier this month.
Winner was Reece Nicholson who beat 44 other children to take top prize
with 2lb 5oz of small roach and skimmers.
Runner-up was Sheree Lacey with 1lb 11.5oz followed by Lauren Morris with
1lb 2oz as all but a handful of competitors managed to get a bite.
Special thanks go to Mr Walker, patron George Fowler, David Slater (who
donated trophies), John Hayward (bailiff at Worksop and District Angling
Association, Sandhill Lake) and Geoff Mawby of Gateford Angling Supplies.
WDAA President Mick Pogson presented trophies and gave the children credit
for their impeccable behaviour and skill in this very enjoyable event.

Triathlon Match
The first WDAA Triathlon
Match took place at Chesterfield Canal, Retford last Saturday with the
results as follows.
In the under 12s section Devon Whitworth was first with 5lb 6oz of mainly
perch, roach and bream to 2lb 9oz.
Devon fished pole at 5m over chopped worm and castor, alternating between
worm and maggot on .10 High Tec line, .08 hook length and size 24 hook.
She also fished a 7m line over groundbait.
Second was Joshua Wilde who caught 3lb 3oz of roach, perch and a single
bream, fishing pole at 4m using number three elastic, 1lb 1oz bottom,
and 26 hook using single pinkie.
Third was Luke McLaughlin who fished pole on far shelf over chopped worm
and hemp 1lb 7oz bottom with a 20 hook and fished red maggot catching
roach and perch to 1lb 15oz.
In the under 16s section Jason McAndrew was winner with 8lb 10oz. He fished
pole at the far side looking for chub and bream, using .10 nylon straight
through to a 20 hook and fished double castor.
He also fished a squat line for small roach using .08 main line to .06
hook length with 24 hook. Fishing pinkie and squat. Catching bonus chub,

Second was Kyle Moore with 8lb 6oz after fishing pole on far shelf with
chopped worm and castor, .13 main line, .10 hook length and size 16 hook
with maggot. He also fed an inside line with squat and pinkie catching
chub and roach.
Sam Elliott was third with 6lb 3oz of chub and roach fishing pole three
quarters way across using bubble float, 3lb main line 1lb 7oz bottom and
size 24 hook, feeding husk and fishing husk on the surface.

August at Sandhill Lake.
