Round Up

I was invited to attend the WDAA Bassetlaw Festival last Tuesday at Sandhill Lake to present prizes but got my times wrong with a slight misunderstanding.
Instead of arriving before the finish I wandered down to the Lake at 7.45pm somehow under the impression this was an evening competition and bemused why no one was there.
I was then told by a pleasure angler that the competition had ended at 3pm, the same time I was plastering a ceiling.
In my absence, prizes were presented by Worksop and District secretary Derek Brown. Apologies gentlemen for my non-attendance.
First - Wilf Salmon (12lb 9oz, peg 58), second Terry Evans (5lb 12oz, peg 79), third Ray Hartley (5lb 7oz, peg 34), fourth Joel Billam (5lb 1oz) and fifth Bob Fisher (3lb 15oz).
Small fish where the order of the day for most of the 25 competitors who took part with the eventual winner putting together a decent net of fish, comprising of bream up to 3lb and two large eels with some small skimmers, taken on a groundbait feeder with either worm or maggot.
Runner-up Terry Evans pole fished either caster or maggot to catch small skimmers and a small carp. Third place used feeder catching 4 bream on maggot and worm. Everyone enjoyed the day.
