catch for Worksop angler Les
Worksop angler Les
Leecame up trumps with this barbel of 7lb 8oz, caught on stick float and
red maggot, while fishing on the Worksop and District Angling Associations
Ness Farm Fishery waters on the River Trent.
This is the pick of four that Les banked last Tuesday and has followed
reports of some exceptional catches here, although some anglers have had
mixed returns.
Nonetheless, when you get the opportunity to catch fish like this, the
odd poor day is soon forgotten. Put it this way, it beats work or sitting
at home if you know what I mean?
Best of Luck to the WDAA team at this weeks National competition
on the Trent.
And good luck to Chris Taylor of Worksop DTH Juniors who travels to Croatia
this weekend with the England Junior squad to fish in this years
World Championships.
Chris put in a tremendous effort at the England trials to earn his place
in the squad and our best wishes go with him.

Round
Up
Worksop junior angling
continues to be among the best in the country after the DTH Cadets brought
back a net full of medals from last weekends NFA Junior Nationals.
Held on the Shropshire Union Canal at Market Drayton, the cadets scooped
a haul of silver medals in the team event.
And the young anglers only just missed out on gold after finishing level
on points with Boston and District but were pipped on overall weight by
just 140g.
In the individual section Ben Taylor finished second overall and collected
silver followed by Kyle Moore who took the Bronze.
There were also section wins for Hannah Godfrey, Moore and a joint section
win for Taylor.
Up to 52 teams and 286 individuals took part in the event which was split
into three age groups: Cadets (under 13s), Juniors (under 16s) and Intermediates
(under 21s.)
In the junior section Worksop narrowly missed out on a medal place, with
the A team finishing fourth and the B team fifth out of 29 teams.
But the Worksop Intermediates Red team took Bronze after finishing third
with 81 points and 9.58 kg.
Star performers for Worksop were Gavin Tomlinson winning his section with
3680g and finishing sixth followed by Carl Roley in seventh overall with
2890g.
Special thanks go to DTH Engineering for their sponsorship of the whole
squad and to Geoff Mawby of Gateford Angling for his bait sponsorship.
Also parents, grandparents and relatives are thanked for all their support
throughout the year, especially team managers Glen Folds and Darren Stables.
Anyone interested in joining the squad should contact Darren on 01302
