Terrific catches in WDAA waters

Terrific catches being made on WDAA waters on the Trent and at Sandhill Lake.
Having read the prospects in the angling column two weeks ago, a number of local anglers have paid the river Trent a visit to sample the sport.
Executive committee member Les Coe and angling pal Pete Prendergast were rewarded with a massive haul of 42 chub to 2.5lb and 34 quality roach respectively.
Les, using stick float fed hemp and caster with red Maggot hook bait from peg 125 and Pete used stick float hemp and caster from peg 121 at Holme Marsh. They both commented on the pristine condition of the fish.
Reports are still coming in of fantastic match catches at Ness Farm using stick and maggot - most in excess of 30lb of roach and chub.
Worksop angler Andy Kendall had his best Trent day ever with a monster common Carp of 29lb,
But not content with this he followed it with more carp of 18lb 8oz, 12lb 8oz and one of 10lb. He also caught four barbel over 5lb, the biggest 7lb 6oz.
Andy was using Mainline Fusion boilies, a size 8 hook and 15lb mainline - a set up that is needed to tame big fish here.
Another huge weight came from WDAA’s Sandhill Lake on Wednesday 30th June where Stuart Barnett fished peg 57and took an exceptional weight of bream during a day-long stint.
He opted to use a ground bait feeder rig, with either maggot or worm on the hook and steadily caught bream up to 6lb for a final weight of 123lb.
His dad Bill, at the next peg, had a slightly relaxed day, catching around 50lb using the same tactics as Stuart.
According to the bailiff, bream are showing all over the lake, with some good catches coming from the car park area on the canal side.
We are all indeed fortunate to have such great waters available if you hold a Worksop book.
