Langold best bet in beating Hopley

Last year’s Embassy National Champion, Tony Hopley, has decided to take some time out from match fishing in an attempt to catch a 10lb bream.
Fishing at Derbyshire County Angling Club’s Willington Coarse Lake recently, Tony caught two bream over 7lb including a 6lb tench, a 4lb chub and finally one of 9lb 1oz in just one session.
The late Geoff Riley once caught three bream to 19lb in a match on the same lake which has also produced some excellent carp and tench.
Tony is continuing his quest and I will keep you informed. If you are not a member of the DCAA, and fancy the challenge of catching a specimen bream, then why not make a visit to Langold Lake.
Bream of between 5lb and 8lb are being caught regularly and with a sprinkling of slightly larger fish it may not be long before a double is caught. But if anyone has already reached this magical figure send me the details.

Round Up

Mark Pressley (pictured above) was this year’s winner of the Gerald Rollinson Memorial Trophy.
At the WDAA delegates and officials match at Sandhill Lake last Saturday, Pressley took top spot with 19lb 06oz from peg 51, pushing last year’s winner Steve Basset into second place.
Pressley spent the first hour-and-a-half on the feeder with only one small skimmer coming to the net.
But a switch to the pole at about seven metres resulted with bream, roach and one eel making up his winning catch in front of 38 other anglers.
The results were as follows: first - Mark Pressley 19lb 06oz, second - Steve Bassett 13lb 02oz, third - Rodger Green 10lb 14oz, fourth - Andrew Pickersgill 10lb 02oz. Section winners by default were K. Rowley, R. Fisher, T. Evans and S. Moore.
