Taylor
makes England Squad
Worksop and District Anglers Association under 16s squad member Chris
Taylor has been selected to fish for England at the World Championships
in Croatia.
Taylor had to fish his way through two trials, that included eight other
WDAA representatives, before hooking a junior national appearance.
Other junior and intermediate anglers selected for the first England trials,
held on 17th April, at Makins Fishery, Leicestershire, were junior under
16s team members Mark Smith, Matthew Godfrey, Danny Harding, Chris Taylor
and Mick Scott .
The intermediate under 21s were Mark Foy, Adam Littler, Andrew Landells
and Carl Rowley.
From the above representation three of the under 16s squad - Taylor, Godfrey
and Smith - were all selected to attend a second trial last Sunday on
the 22nd May, again at Makins.
And from this trial Taylor was granted a dream appearance for his country.
But commiserations go to Godfrey and Smith who will no doubt be knocking
on the door next year.
In the intermediate under 21s section Rowley has also been given a second
trial, enhancing the possibility of two Worksop representatives in the
England side at the Championships.
The WDAA junior section is committed to promoting angling in the area
and is always on the look out for young talent from 10-years-of-age up
to 16-years-of-age.
Anyone interested please contact Darren Stables, cadet manager, on 01302
721434 or Glen Foulds, junior manager, on 01909 482224.

a number of 16 and 17-year-olds still at school.

Prospects
Lakeside has continued
its good form with pleasure catches exceeding the 100lbs barrier, notably
by Steve Law of Rotherham with a mixture of carp to 12lb and silver fish
from the first peg on second strip pond.
Match weights have seen anglers needing over 40lb to be in the money.
Pole and pellet or paste has been best.
Midweek on the Carp Lake, a Chesterfield angler had five fish to 22lb
from peg four using boilies, and another angler from Oldham had six fish
to 23lb using the same bait from peg three.
The Trout Lake is recording double figure numbers consistently and some
good fish using floating line and Buzzers.
A 9lb Rainbow was returned in a 13 fish catch and another of 7lb in a
haul of 17 trout by two Sheffield anglers.
