Batchelors
annual presentation night
Angling
Supplies Batchelors AC held their annual presentation evening last Saturday
at the Grafton Hotel.
The new owner of Angling Supplies, Greg Forrester, was invited to present
the trophies. Greg has kindly offered to continue the sponsorship from
previous owner Mick Pridmore.
Everyone at Batchelors enjoyed a great evening and thanks go to Mick Pridmore
for his support over the last three years and good luck goes to Greg in
his new venture.

tackler in town
ANGLING
Supplies new proprietor Greg Forrester has lived in Worksop all
his life and took up fishing roughly a decade ago after retiring from
the rigours of football.
Primarily a pleasure angler, 45-year-old Greg has fished all over the
world, catching carp to 18.5lb in the UK.
He caught his very first trout in New Zealand, to 9lb, which was eaten
for supper that evening.
If that is not enough, he has travelled to America catching large mouth
bass and fished off the Great Barrier Reef, Australia for red snapper
and numbers of other fish he could not name.
A member of South Yorkshire Police Angling Syndicate, he sometimes pops
over to their carp water adjacent to Woodsetts Pond, among other waters
they lease like Brampton and the River Idle.
His venture into the tackle business was a chance opportunity after working
at Batchelors for almost 25 years.
And Greg is now looking forward to the challenge of owning his own business
and hopes to build on the work done by previous owner Mick Pridmore.
He would also like to thank Trevor Ogden who is assisting him and has
been a pillar of support during transition. More so now, as Greg is laid-up
with a slipped disc.
All
change
Grafton
Angling Association have appointed a new secretary and treasurer after
long-serving committee member Glyn Williams decided to step down after
16 years of hard work.
In that time, Glyn has been the driving force behind everyone associated
with the club and made it the undoubted success it is today.
The new officials are Mick Simpson and Charlie Benson who would like to
pass on their thanks, on behalf of the Club, to Glyn for all his hard
work and wish him every success in the future.
The application forms for new Grafton AA permits on the Chesterfield Canal
Club waters are now available from Ken Wards Sports. Existing members
are reminded to bring their old permits with them when they register.
Distribution of new permits to existing members is on 1st June 2004 and
for new members, 8th June. Prices are £12 for Adults and £6
for juniors and Senior Citizens.

Prospects
Spectacular
sport still exists at Lakeside, Ranskill, on the carp lakes and the first
and second strip ponds.
Pleasure catches are exceeding 100lb, some with carp to 27lb, and similar
bags of carp to 10lb, with a good mixture of silver fish, are also being
taken.
Match weights have been topping the 70lb mark as the main tactics have
been pole and either biscuit or catmeat.
The trout lake is recording some thumping returns with plenty of big fish
including a string of doubles to 13lb 10oz on floating line and buzzers.
If you want quantity not quality, then pulling fritz lures in pink or
the popular blobs in orange does the trick. Telephone 01777 818524 for
more details.

Up

winner of the Go Baits Open on Sunday 2nd May was Ian Turner.
He clocked-up his second victory in this series with seven bream and three

and worm.
Not content with that he visited the same venue the next day to record
a similar bag during a pleasure stint.
Second place went to Dave Cooke with 27lb 2oz (peg 32) with four bream
and two tench using similar tactics.
Third place went to Dave Rampling with 20lb 14ozs (peg 19) and fourth
