Rex’s fishery is a paradise

After my failure to catch a single trout on the outing recently, I plumped for a spot of easy coarse fishing with float tackle.
Though I did catch some small fish the heavens opened shortly after I began fishing and the rain poured down non-stop so I do hope I can leave this run of disappointments behind soon.
However, the chosen venue is a cracker.
Picture a fishery in a lovely valley. Day tickets at reasonable price are sold on the bankside.
A nice snack bar provides reasonably priced quality hot or cold food.
You can park your car close to every swim. There are eight fishing lakes, four for trout and four for coarse fish plus a trout brook. There are flush toilets on site too.
Lots of small fish and a variety of species plus quite a lot of real whoppers. This paradise does exist.
It is the fishing complex run by Rex Ward from Mill Farm in Barlow, near Chesterfield.
Go and put your tackle down on one of the many safe fishing platforms and enjoy your day.
A tip now for those anglers who want to buy a nice Christmas present that will be enjoyed by any angler but doesn’t cost the earth.
It’s the 2007 anglers’ calendar with a page for every day of the year fully illustrated and with fishing facts and records and tips.
I used last year’s edition and the new one is even better with a fold out foot to support the calendar upright.
Good booksellers should be able to supply this or you can buy direct from the publishers Merlin Unwin Books in Ludlow. Telephone them on 01584 877456 for price details.
