Ward takes victory in Hallcroft match

KEITH Ward was victorious in the Angling Supplies Batchelors AC match at the Reed Pool, Hallcroft.

He landed 21lb of 10oz carp using waggler and meat from peg five.
Mark Tindle was second with 19lb 8oz of carp and skimmers caught using meat and the feeder method from peg 12 while Kevin Chantry was third with 9lb 30z of carp using corn and the pole from peg 23.
Other leading weights were Jason Moore (6lb 12oz, p 31), Phil Kemshall (6lb 7oz, p6) and John West (4lb 2oz, p34).
There were 23 competitors and section winners were Jason Moore and Phil Kemshall.
Worksop United were in action with Malc Rushton top rod with 5lb 8oz.
Second was Stuart Coupe with 2lb 12oz and third was Chris Tait with 1lb 90z.
The club will be back at Bracebridge for a match on Sunday 24th November.

Anglers held a Winter League Practice Open at John Shaws/Garside with 68 pegs taken.
Lee Richmond (Notts AA) took the honours with 11lb 8oz, using chopped worm casters, from peg 125.
Runner-up was Richard Turner (Ashima Worksop) with 11lb 5½oz from peg 112 and third was Simon Jarvis (Valley AC) with 10lb 12½oz from peg 124.
Other leading weights were John Brockway (Notts AA) 8lb 14oz, Colin Bacon (Ashima Worksop) 7lb 13½oz and Andrew Pickersgill (Angling Supplies) 7lb 12oz.
Grafton/Ken Ward Sports Winter League
Registration fees are now being accepted for the 2002/3 Winter League series that is scheduled to take place on the club’s holdings of the Chesterfield Canal.
They can be made at the premises of the club’s sponsor, Ken Ward Sports on Carlton Road.
The league will be restricted to 60 anglers and there will be six matches to fish with the best five results counting towards the aggregate league results.
The entry fee is £15 and all cheques should be made payable to Grafton Angling Association.
Dates for the six matches are 24th November, 1st and 15th December, 2nd and 16th February and 2nd March.
The entry fee for each match will be £10 with prizes allocated to sections, plus five individual payouts. Three person team registrations are being accepted with the entry fee of £6 per team.

W.D.A.A Fundraiser

THE Worksop and District Anglers’ Association are holding the first in a proposed series of fundraisers at Sandhill Lakes on Sunday 24th November.
They are to be run throughout the winter months – if sufficient interest warrants them. The first match will see the draw take place at 9am and fishing will be from 10am to 3pm. Cost is £10 all-in.

Association News

The Executive Committee of Worksop and District Anglers’ Association (WDAA) have organised a social event to raise funds for their junior section’s 2003 activities.
A Millionaires’ Casino Night is to be held at the Innings, on Gloucester Road, Prospect Estate, Worksop, on Friday 29th November starting at 7.30pm.
The entry fee will be just £5 and this will include pie and pea refreshments.
Tickets are available from Angling Supplies, Gateford Angling Supplies, Go Baits of Langold, Ken Ward Sports, Bassetlaw Trophies and the Innings.
