More success for Craig

Over the past six years Craig Locke, of North Anston, has collected quite a number of accolades during his reasonably short angling career.

He also has the distinction of being in possession of numerous gold medals while representing Worksop and District Anglers Association in national championships at cadet and junior levels.

Coupled with these magnificent achievements he also won the prestigious Millennium, Junior Fish O’ Mania Championship at Hayfield Lakes where he collected the biggest cash prize ever recorded in junior angling, the sum of £1,000.

On Tuesday evening of this week, my wife and I had the pleasure of accompanying Craig to Boston and District AA’s (BDAA) annual prize presentation where he was awarded the Harry Wragg, Sibsey Trader Championship Cup plus a replica medal.

Craig won this senior event in August last year with a creditable weight of 41lbs 6oz in a competitive field of 68 top-notch anglers.

So congratulations are extended once again to Craig for adding yet another honour to his growing list of achievements.

Free Angling Course

Regional Coach for the National Federation of Anglers, Ken Stevenson, is bringing his free angling course back to Worksop for the third time.

Ken will be delivering his seventh 12-week course, starting on Monday 15th April, at the Flamingo Hotel on Kilton Hill.

The sessions will run from 7pm until 9pm and are open to any individual who is over 18 years of age. The course content covers weather cycles, environmental issues, equipment and fish welfare, angling techniques, safety and much more.

There is no need to book a place just turn up on the night and meet Ken who has perfected many unusual angling techniques including the art of tying an hair rig to a spade end hook using a conventional hook tier. Further details are available from on 01909 474940.

Round-up

Go Baits match result for last Sunday’s event on Langold Lake is as follows: Andy Marsden (Go Baits Tackle) with two bream for 10lbs 15oz from peg 13 followed by Lee Hardy with 9lbs 2oz (p9) and Stewart Goulding with one bream for 3lbs 12.5oz (p47).

Worksop United’s results for their final Saturday match that was held on Bracebridge were: Christophor Tait 4lbs 5oz of roach caught on hemp-seed, followed by Steve Brown 3lbs 7oz, Mick Drage 2lbs 7oz. The overall aggregate winners are Malcolm Rushton with 479 points from a possible 500, Pete Nunn 474pts, Gavin Tomlinson (Worksop Juniors) 449pts, Christophor Tait (Worksop Juniors) 446pts.

I am reliably informed that the two junior anglers have conducted themselves in a honourable manner throughout this series and have also proven their angling abilities as proven by their respectable placings in the final league table. Well done lads. Angling supplies (Retford Road) has sponsored the prizes for this event.
