Top angling post for our man Glyn

It is with a great deal of pride that I am able to announce that I have recently been appointed to the position of National Angling Development Officer for the National Federation of Anglers.

The appointment, which started on the 1st July is for three years and was implemented by Sport England who are based in London.

I will be working in tandem with Malcolm Hanson of the Salmon and Trout Association and David Rowe from the National Federation of Sea Anglers.

This is without doubt a major honour for me, having been delegated with the responsibility of developing coarse angling throughout the country. My main role will be to develop links and partnerships with schools, youth clubs, colleges, local authorities and city councils.

There is also a lot of work to be done with other groups such as those with physical and mental disabilities, learning difficulties, young offenders and drug users, and of course individuals from the ethnic minorities. I will be dealing with major organisations such as the Environment Agency and British Waterways in our quest to promote the sport of angling.

NFA vice president David Kent said: “This appointment is part of our four-year plan with Sport England and is the next major milestone along the national development plan. The role will be wide ranging and not just focussing on coaching.”

NFA Membership Services Manager, Bob Clark added: “I am delighted with the appointment which is a positive move for angling. Glyn has a great reputation for dealing with local authorities, this job is tailor made for him.”
