Mark
takes Rollinson memorial match win
The Worksop
and District Anglers Association (WDAA) Delegates and Officials
match was staged on Sandhill Lake where those taking part were competing
for the Worksop Guardian Gerald Rollinson Memorial Trophy.
A total of 41 anglers lined the banks despite a sever overnight frost
that certainly curtailed the feeding habits of the resident fish, particularly
the larger bream that had shown just a week previously.
This resulted in quite a number of anglers failing to register a bite
and a couple of the sections winners had to be drawn out of the
hat.
Winner on the day was executive committee member and junior squad team
manager Mark Pressley, who kept up his good form having already won the
Lew Woodhead Memorial Trophy in a recent club match, the results of which
were published in last weeks angling column.
Mark, who fished from peg 36, used his experience relating to the effects
that the weather cycle would have on the larger fish and he opted for
the bloodworm and joker method, making the smaller species his main target.
His tactics paid off at the end of the match as he was declared the winner
with 5lb 1oz of small roach and skimmers that were caught at regular intervals
throughout the match.
Adrian Tomlinson was second with 2lb 2oz, followed by Gordan Smith (Worksop
Senior squad) 1lb 8oz, with Mick Pogson (WDAA Executive) and Andrew Pickersgill
(Angling Supplies) sharing fourth place with 1lb 5oz each.

Ian
is Making Satisfactory Progress
I AM
pleased to report that Ian Barnett, of North Anston, is making satisfactory
progress after undergoing major surgery to help him in his fight to overcome
cancer.
I received a surprise but welcome telephone call from Ian over the weekend
who informed me that he was now home and that his surgeon had given him
some encouraging news about his problem.
He said that once the results of the biopsy were known in a couple of
weeks time, they would know exactly what they were dealing with
and what further treatment would be required.
On behalf of Ian, I would like to express a vote of thanks to those readers
who have made enquiries about Ians progress after reading the story
about him raising over £700 for the Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund.
