The
2004 Far Grange Park Angling Club
Far
Grange Park, Hornsea Road, Skipsea, Driffield, East Yorks YO25 8SY
We are a newly formed Club within the Holiday complex at Far Grange
Park Skipsea, however we have no link with the Holiday complex. Being
a newly formed Club we welcome all people from all walks of life,
our age groups are from 7 to 60+ men, women and children.
Last year was our first year and we raised aprox £3k for charities
within the Skipsea, Hornsea area.
For our young anglers we have an Academy section from the ages of
7 to 16, inclusive of all beginners, run by our Academy Manager, Martin.
We started with 55 members last year and we fish matches every Thursday
and Saturday, awarding prizes in various categories. This year we
already have 75 members registered, with a minimum of 12 women, we
also cater for the less fortunate people in our society, disabled,
people with a lesser chance of affording the sport, in fact we cater
for everyone, these are not just holiday makers, but for people from
far and wide.
Sponsorship up to April 2005 was in excess of £20k, this was
put to good use with 4 senior anglers certified as coaches, and we
have built 77 new recycled plastic standings for all our pegs (6 are
for disabled anglers).
We hope to obtain grants this year to build our own angling teacher
training centre, where we will coach angling techniques, our teacher
training centre will also be used by Bishop Burton College to run
fishing and fishery management courses.
With local schools wanting to use our facilities, and a women's training/
fishing day taking place under the guidance of The Environment Agency
and the national Federation of Anglers, an event sponsored by the
Environment Agency, we are trying our best to promote the sport of
angling.
We as a club, must not forget that Mike McCann MD of FGP, has a rigorous
stocking policy to the lakes and his contribution is costed at the
moment in excess of £15k.
Families of all ages, whatever religion, status, abilities, disabilities,
can come enjoy the sport of fishing and the events we stage throughout
the year.
Come and visit us - and see for yourself
