Dace Fishing
The dace is a fast, agile fish which lives in big shoals and feeds in the upper layers of the water. A 10oz dace is a big one. They often give their presence away by ‘dimpling’ on the surface as they take flies. A pint of maggots and a float setup is all you need to catch them. Set the float with shot strung out so the bait falls slowly through the water. Hook bait should be single or double maggot on a size 18 hook and 2lb line.
Bites may be fast and you might miss some, but don’t worry, as long as you keep feeding - the fish will stay there. A bag of dace on a float in summer. Everything is fine with the world.
