Pictured above is ace angler - Mick Fells.

Mick sent us a quite a few 'trophy shots' - but we decided to use this picture

Mick caught the fish using a size 16 hook tied straight through to 6lb line,
coupled with a lightweight waggler rod.
For bait he crammed six red maggots onto the barbless hook!
The fight lasted for over 40 minutes before he finally managed to net the fish.

FISHING fanatic Dave Williams has landed his biggest catch on a trawl of the fishing lakes of France.

Prolific Dave (41), who is known in Hucknall as ‘Stax’, caught this 51lbs whopper on his latest holiday in Le Quis.

The common carp was a personal record for Dave, who has been fishing for 35 years.

He previous best was a 41lbs carp as part of an 18-fish catch last November.

He said: "As I brought the fish in, my rod was bent like I have never seen before. I knew it was very big but when it was weighed on the bank, I was ecstatic.
"In fishing terms, this completely eclipses anything I have ever done."

Dave, of Bolingey Way, caught the fish using a piece of sweetcorn instead of the specialist bait many anglers now use. Only eight carp weighing more than 50lbs have ever been landed on the particular stretch of water, which is known as The Long Lake.

The catch completed a successful week for father-of-two Dave, who landed 15 fish, including two of 33lbs and one of 31lbs.

And it rounded off a bumper year for the self-employed gardener, who runs Hucknall firm Will’s Gardening Services.

His next ambition is to return to France to catch a mysterious fish named ‘Little Joe’, which weighs in at more than 50lbs and hasn’t been caught this year.

Liam (14) hooked a monster carp weighing 22 lbs 5 ozs on a tiny size 20 hook and a maggot.

It took the youngster only five minutes to land the fish, which was also the biggest fish ever weighed at the Thirsk fishing complex.

The contest was eventually won by Steve Glossop with a magnificent 41 lbs 12 ozs and the 34 anglers involved weighed in a total catch of 550 lbs of fish.
