The local health food store is a great place to find protein/milk/malt powders, etc. Read some of the labels on the containers - you'll be amazed at the vitamins and minerals they contain, making them an ideal ingredient for high nutritional boilies...
Soya flour is a good bulk ingredient (it rolls slightly better than semolina), you can use dried brewers yeast as an attractor, just add 1-2oz per pound of dry mix.
You might even find some essential oils - brilliant for giving your bait a distinctive smell. Only a few drops are needed in a mix, don't overdo it - it can put fish off.

The pet shop is the place to find bulk baits such as peanuts, seeds and pulses. Robin Red and other bird food supplements are worth investigating. Buying your mixer biscuits in bulk will save a few pounds too. And don't forget to have a look at the fish food shelves. Have they got any bulk pellets that are of interest?

Don't be frightened to experiment, all the items in this list are safe for carp to feed on, but remember - nuts, dried food, beans and pulses need to be thoroughly well-soaked and then cooked properly before you use them. If in doubt - leave it out!

The safety and well-being of the carp you are targeting is paramount, please don't use anything which could hurt or injure them in anyway.
