Woolwich Dockyard Wonder!
October 2006

I got up Saturday morning a bit later than I would have liked, but I went down to Woolwich Dockyard for a spot of fishing.

I had a float rod out and a carp rod on a leger - on a basic bolt rig set up. I started off using boilies on the Lineaeffe Senator carp rod but then I thought to myself that I haven't used anything natural on the carp rod for a while, so I opened a tin of prepared chickpeas and hair rigged one on the hook, plopped it out and waited.

After having numerous small fish, perch and silvers on the float, my bite alarm went mad! I struck in to a nice fish and after a few minutes I pulled out a lovely 5lbs 8oz common.

After catching this - I thought to myself "hmm this is goooooood!" so another chickpea went on and some more loose feed scattered around it...again after catching numerous small fish on the float, the alarm gave me a one-toner!

So I jumped up and hit it, into what felt a much bigger weight and it was! The fish didn't want to surface! And every time I got it to the top it shot back under like there was a bag of bricks on the end of my line, even with the Senator rod having 2.5lbs test curve and 12lbs of Lineaeffe line this fish felt like it was going to be nice and the end result was a good one....after hooking it on a SINGLE chickpea (same as the other one) I finally landed a pristine common carp of 8lbs 9oz!

I did have a good day!

Thanks for reading all!

Tight lines and happy fishing to all of you!
