What fishing is
all about
I have been teaching my mate Bill to fish for the last four years, and
we probably go out 3 / 4 four times a year together.
This weekend we
set off - not knowing where we were going to fish, so we decided to
head for Penrith.On
the way we stopped at a Little Chef, which had the usual tourist leaflets
and I noticed one for 'Fishing at Hawkshead'
After a two-minute
discussion we headed towards the lakes, on the way there we called the
phone number and spoke to Neil, who gave us the updates on cost and
agreed to sort out a list of suitable accommodation. We
arrived at the venue at 5pm, spoke to Neil and booked our boat for 10am.
We checked into
our accommodation - the Waterside House B&B, which was perfect,
our room looked straight onto the lake.A
few beers later and a good meal and we where on the water, Neil gave
use some sound advice and we were soon cruising to our first spot.
Within ten minutes
Bill had landed his first ever rainbow trout while I was still setting
up, after sorting Bill's gear, another twenty minutes and Bill had his
second, and then another.
I
am there - teaching Bill, he has three trout and I have nil.
By the end of the
day Bill had landed eight with a little help, and I landed three.
Bill also caught
the biggest which was 6lb plus, our average being 3 to 4lb.
The morale of the story is not about beginners luck, it's about getting
a non -fishing mate fishing, and seeing his face light-up when he lands
a fish.
Unfortunately we
both lost fish exceeding 12lb, but if anyone was going to catch the
big one, it would have been Bill.
Best regards
