Quite a story from Tom!

My name is Tom Holmes , I caught this 17lb 2oz pike on a half mackeral,
about 3 feet from the bank.

I was lure fishing when the pike followed my lure in, but as I brought it close to the bank, it swam off, so I brought one of my deadbaits in and cast it towards the fish. Before I had put my swinger on, the reel started spinning and when I struck, the rod arched over and I knew it was the big pike I had just seen.

It is now my personal best - I actually caught the same fish 5 weeks before at 16lb 12oz, I knew it was the same fish because of the scar on its side.
