Indoor Fishing at Shirebrook

During the winter months Shirebrook Angling Club held some in door fishing
coaching sessions at the Old Hall Upper Langwith. Members from the club
came to the sessions from Hasland, Bolsover, Clowne, Shirebrook, Hillstown,
and Warsop.
The young members learnt skills on how to tie a spade end hook, make
up pole rigs, put the correct shot on the float, elasticate a whip and
pole, fish identification, and lots more other education.
They even learnt how to make up pike rigs for when the club took the
young members pike fishing. Pictured below is young Alex with his 8lb
12oz pike from just one of the trips organised by the club.
In the picture above is NFA angling coach Tim Fairhurst with adult volunteers
Dave Mellor's and Dave Hayes in coaching session about fish anatomy.
This helps the young members understand were the organs are in a fish
and how to hold one correctly without hurting it.
The club has got 3 NFA coaches and is on its way to getting 4, trained
first aiders. We are one of the very few clubs in the country that all
the committee members and volunteers have been on a Reach and Rescue
Water Safety Training Course. (or maybe the only one)
Now the evenings are getting lighter and warmer S.A.C as started bank
side sessions from 6pm to 8pm every Friday evening at Shirebrook Town
Park Pond. Supported by Bolsover District Council Community Safety Team
who donated the Eyes and Ears bags, T shirts, pencil cases, pens, pencils,
and CD cases.
If you would like to join our club and live in the Derbyshire area then
please call NFA angling Coach/Chairman Alan Hayes on 07790605796.
