Barlow Coarse Fishery
Barlow Fisheries, Mill Farm, Barlow, Dronfield S18 7TJ
Tel: 0114 289 0543

On this visit to Barlow, I was joined by Jason Grant, the co-owner of Champion Baits, I'll tell you more of our fishing at a later date.

Barlow is a wonderful venue, set in beautiful countryside, it not only has four coarse lakes, there are four trout lakes as well (which I'll report about in the future).

When you arrive at Barlow fishery, you'll most likely notice the log cabin style cafe, which is fully accessible to wheelchair users, the people in there are very friendly and helpful, they will do their utmost to cater for your needs.

The road at the fishery, is well compacted and even, so people can walk or wheel to their peg with ease, if you choose to fish one of the specially designed concrete disabled pegs, you can park ten yards from your chosen peg. On the second lake (just outside the cafe) there are two pegs with bump bars across the front of them, but there are plenty of other "friendly" pegs, which are easy to get to.

Situated next to the cafe there is a fully adapted disabled toilet, which even has an alarm fitted.

Rex Ward (the owner) has done a great job in setting this fishery up and he is open to suggestions on how he can further improve his fishery. You can often find Rex enjoying something tasty in the cafe, he will give you advice on where to fish, also how to fish the peg, this advice should be noted, as Rex knows what he's on about!

The fishing is simple, you can do whatever style you want, whether you're into pole, waggler, feeder or carp/bite alarm fishing, you'll not be disappointed with Barlow.

There are numerous species of fish, from Carp to Gudgeon, with an almost endless list in-between. All the fish I've seen have been in prime condition, please have a look at some of the species left courtesy of Kevin Miles, NFA resident angling coach.

A few quotes from the press:-

 Jim Baxter, Angling Star
