Here's Andy Porteous with a monster skate of approx 204lb
Andy tells us...
'Here's a pic of the Skate I caught on the 15th of November 07. The
fish measured 67.5inches from fintip to fintip and had a total length
of 87inches.'
'The fish was in excellent condition and looked to be heavy for its
dimensions. According to the length/weight charts this fish would
have been 204lb (67inchesx87inches).
'The fish was caught at Tarbert, Isle of Harris. The nearest place
to weigh the Skate would be at Stornoway, an 80mile round trip, resulting
in the inevitable death of the fish. I was not prepared to kill the
fish to claim the record.'
Andy added: 'I am sure that this mark will produce larger fish soon.
I caught a fish of 176lb - 3 weeks ago, which was followed two days
later by a fish of 184lbs
by the current record holder.'
